Not Again

Ahh Korea, another miscalculation coming back to haunt us. In 1950 arguably our first attempt at going to war under the auspices of the UN, supposedly justified in the consensus of the members of that august world forum, titled a "police action". Near 60,000 American casualties later, an uneasy truce is contrived, where the instigator, the perpetrator North Korea was allowed to go unpunished and unrepentant to war another day...at the very least to threaten to war another day! Hard to imagine a super power of our might and resources stymied by a 26 year old Kim Jung-Eun some 60yrs later, the very grandson of the same dictator we dealt with so unsuccessfully in 1950-, now threatens to nuke us if we intervene in his nation's plans to once again annex our protectorate South Korea! Is this what it has come to: have nuke(s) and will do you if our aggressions, our demands are not honored! "The Bomb" no longer a deterrent but an instrument of international blackmail! A test ballon? If successful I'm sure, the likes of Iran will be more than willing to emulate? In as much as the illegal proliferation of nuclear weapons has gone unchecked, how long do you think it will take for another rogue nation, even a fanatical unaligned criminal element to come by a nuclear device capable of bartering with the lives of thousands; laying barren landscape for political or monetary gain?

You Know Who You Are

Although highly unlikely that anyone being slopped at the public trough would be reading Ole Tom Swift's Conservative Slants, perchance allow me to admonish you! And, let me say you are not going to get a pass in the grace of the Great Shepherd "you no not what you are doing"! You know exactly what you are doing! You and your ilk are destroying the greatest democracy, the most productive, the most diverse, the most benevolent society, all things considered, known to man! In your self serving misguided agenda of equality for all: the indigent, the infirm, the criminal, the indolent, the perceived disenfranchised; their whatever surmised dependence, their whatever conjured up requirement for sustenance, subsistence and/or special entitlements has brought our country to it's knees in debt and social disorder! And I remind you not all of the afore mentioned are either entitled or appreciative of their government provided welfare at taxpayer expense. Milton Friedman got it right: A society that indiscriminately puts equality before freedom will get neither. You and yours have forsaken freedom, individual liberties for existence in a "nanny state", the propagation of a omnipresent government bureaucracy mandated to regulate your fate and mine from womb to tome. History has preordained the destiny of your choice; current events in Europe forebode it's dire inevitability. Generations to come will rue your countenance!

National Public Radio (NPR) Rant

For those of you who do not suspect that the "progressives" continue to erode our conservative values and constitutional rights, witness the incessant barrage by NPR chipping away at traditional societal morals and values.  Now, I am not one to disparage your ability to present your point of view, but when a publicly funded organization uses my tax dollars to further a liberal agenda with the constant underlying message that somehow their position is "right" because they are intellectually superior to the simpletons, then something is truly awry.  This morning, in succession, NPR presented the following, and not with a true reporter's lack of bias, but with their distinctly left leaning spin:

First, and forever dear to all liberals is the issue of gun control.  NPR lauded Colorado and especially Connecticut who, after New York  rammed sweeping gun control measures down the throats of their citizens in the dark of night with no public discussion, they all seek to play oneupmanship politics for the title of "most restrictive gun control laws in the nation".  All  in the name of "common sense gun laws", those feel good and wholly ineffective measures that punish the law abiding and treat the entire citizenry like apartment dwelling Manhattanites.  It may come as some surprise to you yuppy sheep, but some of us live in regions where there is no 5 minute emergency response, there is no Starbucks on the corner, a post-office is an hour drive away and we actually have four legged varmints threatening our food supply and others that we choose to hunt. And does anyone out there with any common sense whatsoever think that registration of high capacity magazines (not the gun mind you...the magazine) will have any affect on gun violence? Of course not, but it will have an affect on you when registration turns into confiscation, as it inevitably does.  Sure, Obama can continue on the  stump with his rhetoric about not violating our Second Amendment rights. But leaving the Second Amendment as merely an intact document while simultaneously restricting ammunition, magazines, and a large class of firearms based on appearance leaves us with very few useful options with which to exercise those rights.  If the police cannot protect one of their own in Texas, what chance do unarmed law abiding citizens have against society's miscreants?  And don't even get me started on the success of sweeping gun control measures in places like Washington, DC and Chicago.  Our latest reports from Chicago have the pols giving us some "boys will be boys" excuse for cell-phone coordinated attacks on pedestrians on the Miracle Mile labelling it a "Flash Mob".  How culturally hip.  In my day that was referred to as "getting mugged". Coincidentally, all this gun control talk comes on the heels of Cyprus floating the idea that the government can legally "seize" 10% of your bank assets, bringing to mind the basic premise of the Second Amendment:  to protect the citizens from a tyrannical government.  Remember that premise.... because it will come back to bite us on our collective bottoms.

Second, and another liberal ideal, is the concept of wage "fairness", also known as "how come a non-skilled, undereducated, employee doesn't earn as much as a college educated executive with a finley tuned skill set".  Well.......duh. NPR rambled on about the disparity in wage increases between skilled workers and unskilled workers lamenting that the recent increases should be equally "distributed".  Alas, more wealth redistribution schemes from the liberals.  Shocking.  They started by noting the stock market surge, an increase in manufacturing, and an increase in hiring, all implying economic prosperity, but then swung the discussion to the question of why wage increases for unskilled workers have remained barely above inflation, whereas wages for skilled employees (read: those rich CEOs) have risen steadily.  In this case, NPR actually answered their own question.  There are plenty of unskilled workers seeking positions and many of them are currently in part time positions or remain unemployed whereas the market continues to seek skilled workers for positions that require specific training in a marketplace that continues to become more technologically advanced and automated. Supply and demand, basic capitalist principles that the liberals, and our President repeatedly fail to grasp.  Yet, on they drone about the "fairness" of wealth redistribution, progressive taxation, and entitlements.  How about self-worth through education, hard work, and living within your means as a topic for discussion?

And last on our NPR program list, the subject that dominates the liberal media, that keeps our Supreme Court from doing anything truly productive, and somehow seems even more important than nuclear proliferation: Gays.  Now, I have heard statistics ranging anywhere from 3% to 10% for the amount of homosexuals in the general population, but seemingly they are everywhere lately.  And frankly, I don't give a damn.  I have the same reaction to heterosexuals flaunting their sexuality in public as I do the homosexual population:  Get a room.  Times may change, but standards must remain.  I don't care what you do, just keep it to yourself. Certain things should remain private between consenting adults regardless of your sexual orientation.  There is no need to advertise your sexual proclivities, especially in front of your 90 year-old Aunt May or a group of tourists from Peoria.  But I digress.  NPR was off again on the "fabulous" bandwagon touting the latest broadway production of "Kinky Boots" another distinctly gay Harvey Fierstein (he of La Cage aux Folles and the gravelly voice) production featuring a misunderstood drag queen who gains fame and fortune by producing fashionable shoes for, uh....other drag queens.  Seriously.  Now don't get me wrong, I find it all relatively amusing, and if you choose to subject yourself to the on-stage cavorting of exaggerated gay stereotypes, a distortion that the gay population peculiarly doesn't object to, then have at it.  But must NPR continue to bang the drum so loudly and conspicuously?  Does this type of programming appeal to the overwhelming majority of the taxpayers whose dollars support you?  I think not.  When such a flamoyant representation of a man dressed as a woman becomes merely a societal normal or, worse yet, is portrayed as a viable choice on how one should behave in civilized society, then we have gone a bit over the edge. On a personal note,  I will always remember vacationing in the Florida Keys some years ago.  While walking along the street in Key West holding the hand of my then eight year-old daughter, a 6 foot tall cross-dresser in a sequined gold mini-dress, a blonde wig and huge lucite spiked heels was handing out pamplets in front of a club in the middle of the day.  He (She?) handed me a pamphlet, I politely accepted, and he said thank you in a decidedly male voice.  My perceptive daughter waited until we were a short distance away and whispered: "Dad, I think that was a man".  I responded:"Yes, it is".  To which she responded: "Why?"  Why, indeed.

So in short, it is not the liberal concept of gun control, misguided as it may be, the opinion that wealth should be redistributed according to a sense of entitlement and not merit, nor the celebration of gay culture that truly offends me. It is  NPR's incessant advancing of the liberal agenda that I object to.  Why must a publicly funded radio station be the mouthpiece for a decidedly biased, liberal view of the world?  Why is the media complicit in an all out campaign to move the goalposts and establish a new normal?  Why is a government sanctioned propaganda campaign continually an affront to my own personal beliefs, morals, ethics and constitutional rights, a campaign that seeks to indoctrinate the low information voter and particularly the youth into accepting a new normal?  With Europe as a window into a culture that results from questionable moral values, a complicit liberal media, punitive taxation, unsustainable government programs, unchecked immigration, and waning military might, perhaps NPR would better serve the public by reporting on this, the end game of their agenda.

Oh My!

Deja vu all over again, how trite, but never-the-less so appropriate ! Old Yogi would have described our politico's latest "amnesty for illegal aliens machinations" as such correctly! Will we ever learn... their end game is promise we patsies anything, but secure a viable path to voting rights for 20 million (in their vernacular) undocumented emigrants! If citizenship is the most expedient route, so be it. We went down this road before...., the trade off was supposed to be: secure our boarders; enforce our immigration laws in granting, some thought to be 10 million or so violators at the time, amnesty. We all know how that worked out! How does it go, " fool me once shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!" This tactic of deception with illegal intent in the drafting and passing of legislation; the deliberate shading of constitutional rule and order as a means to their relentless pursuit of socialism is appalling! In this light, does the resent proposed gun laws give you that deja vu pause as well? Being a witness to our country slipping away from us one amendment at a time is a painful ordeal...at least for me it is!

And The Games Continue....

The House's budget submitted to the Senate: as anticipated unanimously approved by it's majority Republican membership; unanimously disapproved by It's Democrat membership. Want to guess what the Senate's majority Democrat membership will do with it? You guessed it, as Senator Charlie Rangel so succinctly put it,"What is it you Republicans don't understand: we won the election, we have been given the keys to the kingdom, shut up and go away"! We poor Conservative Republicans have been painted into a corner, and as it has come to pass, in defiance of the Constitution the Democrats feel no obligation to aqueous or negotiate with the Republicans in the submitting of a compromise budget of their own! They will submit a budget that will for all intent and purpose further plunge the country into crippling debt and economic uncertainty, while further advancing their socialist agenda! And, in the certainty it will not be approved blithely carry on, budget-less-, nothing to measure them by! Why shouldn't they, they did it before, and not only got away with it, but won the elections to boot! Is there ever going to be an end to this painful diabolical dismantling of America! You have heard me, along with others make this observation: this great democracy of ours, as it's predecessors before it, has apparently run it's 200 year life expectancy (1776-2012). We of great ambition and intention to break that mold and perpetuate our society have finally succumbed to democracy's nemesis: when an apathetic citizenry realizes it can vote to secure subsistence from it's government, coincides with an enabling government, the die is cast! If you were to dissect the demographics of the 2008 election, McCain vs Obama, you can see the inevitable eclipse's progress. Aided by our electro-college voting protocol and urban metropolis' a magnet to the vast majority of those recipients of one form or another of welfare-, the deck is stacked against a capitalistic, sanctioned with abounding individual freedoms and liberties oriented democracy. Professor Joseph Olsen of Hamline University compiled this rather unique demographic interpretation of that election, reinforcing my more traditional demographic accounting offered here before some time back re. Romney/ Obama: a) Number of States won by: Obama 19/ McCain 29; b) Square miles of land won by: Obama 580,000/ McCain 2,427,000; c) Population of counties won by: Obama 127 million/McCain 143 million; d) Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama 13.2/McCain 2.1. Read into those advised statistics what you may, but the implication is not with out merit. An unsavory, dependent, uninformed portion of our electorate has the will and means to do the rest of us in, to bring this American Democracy of ours to an end!

I Whimper On

7.7 % unemployment, 200,000 + jobs created. Eureka, we are on the wings of recovery! Tell me how many jobs were lost; how many dropped out of the labour force in this same time frame? Such subterfuge! We are hurting economically to the point of collapse yet Obama and his propagandists continue to whistle past the grave yard in stupefying ignorance trying to convince us prosperity is just around the corner. I shudder in disbelief ...tax more, spend more to support a bloated welfare and entitlement agenda, and we will magically rise above our burgeoning deficit, our economic deficiencies? Please!!! His hue and cry for compromise, for non-partisanship should fall on deaf ears in his deeds and actions speaking volumes: it's his way or the highway! I say again to give this man and his regime an inch is foolhardy and counterproductive. I pray we hold the line in these budget negotiations, remain vigilant in our demands for fiscal responsibility-, buoyed by the result of our stand on the sequestration issue!

My Sentiments Exactly

My frustration cup runeth over, in that I quote a compatriot responding to my latest Blogs advising:

"I just read the Huffington Post comments after their story about the sequester. Comments like "the Republicans are just trying to punish us after Obama won" and "in actuality government spending as a percentage of GDP has gone down under Obama and taxes have gone down as well despite what the Republicans say" and some suggesting that the sequester is a Republican ploy to attack the President's credibility as he struggles against them to right the ship. As Rush would say, these are 'low information" voters who get their news from facebook and the internet. Then, in a sign that the apocalypse is upon us, the outgoing Pope makes a comment that the new Pope should be well versed in social media like facebook and twitter. So that''s what we have come to....what you read on your smart phone. The inmates are indeed running the asylum! After 4.5 years of failed policies and a struggling economy wouldn't you think "dawn would have broken over Marblehead!" I will wait until the midterm elections. If after 6 years of failure, if Obama comes out smelling like a rose and the Democrats sweep into power in both House and senate, then I too will acknowledge that all is lost. Obama is either the greatest political genius in history or he is the anti-Christ. Or maybe decades of reverse Darwinism has finally caught up to us."
