What Is Happening To Us

I have trouble with the WSJ complaining that Florida has hobbled job growth by requiring verification of work authorization on new hires, stating that one-third of Florida’s construction workforce and one-half of farmhands are undocumented immigrants. Simultaneously, we hear that job participation amongst able-bodied American males in their twenties is at an all-time low. Analyzing this data, one can only conclude that we require cheap immigrant labor to do jobs that Americans are unwilling to do because they have been given the option of sitting on the couch and being subsidized with taxpayer dollars. Further, studies show that the first wave of immigrants is willing to do the work, but once they are established in this country, their children are more likely to adopt the posture of American-born couch potatoes. If that is indeed the case, this country has a significantly greater problem than immigration alone.

These figures also jibe with reports that 70 percent of military-age Americans are unfit for service, failing to qualify by not meeting physical or mental standards. The creep of socialism is debilitating our workforce.
